Shopify
Connect a Shopify store to Terno AI to analyse orders, products, customers, inventory, and discounts.
Connect your Shopify store and ask about sales, products, customers, and discounts in plain English.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Your store’s myshopify.com address.
- A Shopify staff account that can install apps on the store.
- Admin rights in your Terno workspace.
Connect Shopify
Section titled “Connect Shopify”- Click Add Data Connectors, open the Connectors tab, choose Shopify, and click Connect.
- In the Connect Shopify dialog, enter your store, such as
acmeoracme.myshopify.com. - Sign in to Shopify and approve the app.
- You’re returned to Terno, which shows Connected to Shopify.
Terno asks for read-only access to orders (including older orders), products, customers, inventory, locations, draft orders, and discounts. One connection covers one store. Add one connection per store.
What you can analyse
Section titled “What you can analyse”| Report | What’s in it |
|---|---|
| Orders | Orders with totals, status, payment, fulfilment, and customer. |
| Order line items | The products and quantities in each order. |
| Draft orders | Orders created by staff that aren’t completed yet. |

Try asking:
- “Revenue and order count by day for the last 30 days.”
- “Top 10 products by units sold this month.”
- “Repeat customer rate this year.”
- “Which discount codes drove the most revenue?”
- “How many checkouts were abandoned last week, and their total value?”
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting””Reconnect” after an update
If Terno asks you to reconnect, click Manage → Reconnect and enter the store again. Shopify then issues a fresh token.
”Reconnect the source” or the connection has expired
The sign-in was revoked or expired. An admin opens the connector and clicks Manage → Reconnect. Reconnecting keeps your account selections and chat history.
”Not permitted to query account(s)”
The account is set to No access, or an admin limited your group to other accounts. Ask an admin to check Account selection and Access control.
”Too many requests” or “Daily quota … is exhausted”
Terno limits how often each workspace calls each app, to stay within the app’s own limits. Wait a moment and try again. Daily quotas reset at 00:00 UTC. See Limits.
Security
Section titled “Security”- You sign in on Shopify’s own page. Terno never sees your password.
- Tokens are encrypted at rest and refreshed automatically when the app allows it.
- Read-only: Terno can’t change orders, products, customers, or settings.
- Only workspace admins can connect, reconnect, or disconnect. Everyone in the workspace can ask questions about the accounts that are switched on.
Disconnect
Section titled “Disconnect”Open the connector and click Manage → Disconnect. Terno deletes its stored tokens and can no longer fetch new data. Your account selections, notes, and earlier chats are kept, so reconnecting later picks up where you left off. Nothing changes in your Shopify account.
To also remove Terno’s access on the Shopify side, revoke it in your Shopify account settings.
